my evenings were spent alone//
standing still
in the middle of
a quiet storm
but you'd be there//
and you'd walk up and say things
to my pores//
kissing my soul//
stroking my hand//
you'd whisper words into my ear like
sugar cube raindrops melting//
falling//
seaping through the holes in the pavement//
i stood there
and you read a poem
to my hair,
the blatant storm of ethnicity that
you loved to run your hands through// so
you'd be there//
but i always stood alone in the midst
of my quiet storm while you
admired my physicality and ignored
the rest of me

...it's like missing someone so much and they are sitting right next to you! I totally felt that!
Imagination is the one weapon in the war against reality. - Jules
